guide
is a directory of small independent hotels
offering a calm and relaxing environment to travellers, for holidays,
business visits, or short breaks. On account of the nature of hotels in
and around London, this area includes some hotels that are
larger
than the normal size limit, which is 40 rooms. Priority is given
to hotels offering good value for money, and a friendly
welcome.
iHi welcomes suggestions

Finding
a hotel in London
Finding
the right hotel in London can be a daunting task, unless money is no
object. London is full of hotels, and a lot of them, catering for
business customers and wealthy tourists, are quite expensive. But there
are also plenty of moderately priced hotels in London, that provide a
pleasant environment and a friendly reception, at reasonable rates. iHi
has read through thousands of hotel reviews, to pick out just a few
hotels that offer a good service, a reasonably quiet environment, and
good value for money.
Hotels in the suburbs of London
Visitors looking for a quieter environment should think of staying
outside the centre of London; this is also strongly recommended
for anyone travelling by car, as driving in London can be
very difficult and costly (see below), on
top of the high rates charged by inner London hotels.
For a very different experience indeed, discover the rural
inns
and hotels of southern England, some of which have been providing board
and lodging to weary travellers for several hundred years. Live out the
charm of Olde England in rural inns with their thatched roofs and
beamed ceilings – an expericnce that will remain in your
memories
long after your holiday is over.
Driving in London
This is definitely NOT recommended. Apart from the fact that
parts of central London are closed to all private vehicles without
permits, central London driving permits are expensive, as is parking.
Furthermore most of Greater London within (but excluding) the
M25
is now a ULEZ - an ultra low emissions zone - and vehicles
that do
not meet the Euro 6 standard (diesel) or Euro 4 standard (petrol) must
pay a fee of £12.50 a day.

Cancellation
and payment:
In most cases, and unless a "no cancellation option" is
chosen, the online booking sites with which iHi is partnered
allow free cancellation and do not require payment in advance. A credit
card is normally required to secure a booking as a guarantee for the
hotels in case visitors book a room but do not show up. In
most cases, you will pay the hotel on arrival or on departure,
according to each individual hotel's policy..
